CM Gandapur appears in court; arrest warrants cancelled

ISLAMABAD: The Sessions Court in Islamabad heard the case against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader is accused of possessing weapons and prohibited substances, which were allegedly recovered from him. Earlier, the court had issued arrest warrants for Gandapur, for not showing up at hearings.
Today CM Gandapur surrendered in the Sessions Court Islamabad, and his arrest warrant were canceled. His counsel Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan gave a statement that today they “will not record our 342 statement. I cannot give arguments today, I need at least five hours.”
Sessions Court Judge Mubashir Hassan Chishti, responded, “You will receive the questionnaire of 342 [statement] today at 3 PM.”
Explaining his no-show on July 21, Gandapur said that he was unable to appear in court due to Senate elections. Judge Chishti said, “We had given the option that you would have recorded your statement online.” Gandapur replied, “I [joined] online, [but there was some] internet issue with the court.”
Afterwards, the sessions court allowed CM Gandapur to leave, while adjourning the hearing of the case until 3 PM.

GANDAPUR CONTINUES AUGUST 5 PROTEST PLANNING
In a post on social media platform, Facebook, CM Gandapur’s account posted a video on Tuesday afternoon, with the caption, “On August 5, people will come out in every constituency and every city and record their protest in a vigorous manner. The world will know that the people are standing up.”
