PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has voiced strong concerns regarding the oppressive load-shedding in the province.
In a public statement, he lamented that despite repeated calls for dialogue to resolve the issue, the relevant authorities, including the federal government, have ignored his appeals. He expressed frustration, noting that his respectful approach might be misconstrued as a sign of weakness, which he assured is not the case.
Gandapur issued a warning, stating, “If the load-shedding does not subside, I will personally visit the PESCO office tomorrow to devise a load-shedding schedule myself.”
He made it clear that the PESCO chief must adhere to this schedule if he wishes to continue operating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The chief minister highlighted the paradox of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa producing inexpensive electricity yet being compelled to purchase it at elevated prices.
He stressed that they were well-versed in asserting their rights and should not be underestimated. Gandapur emphasized, “This is not merely a threat; it is an ultimatum.”
He insisted that a load-shedding schedule be established tonight, cautioning that if the current schedule is not amended by tomorrow, he will assume control over the entire PESCO system.
Gandapur also alluded to the possibility of transferring the punitive power, symbolized by a button, into the hands of the public.
Load-shedding remains a prevalent issue in Pakistan, typically arising from a mix of inadequate power generation, transmission losses, fuel shortages, and operational inefficiencies within distribution companies.
