Gas price hike: KP nanbais announce strike

KP nanbais

PESHAWAR: The Nanbais association of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced a strike in response to the surge in gas prices. This has intensified the ongoing protests against escalating utility bills in the province.

The move comes as nanbais voice concerns over the debilitating effects of high gas costs on their businesses, coupled with the persisting issue of load shedding in the region.

In a statement, the nanbais association expressed its deep apprehensions regarding the substantial increase in gas prices and the subsequent hardships it has imposed on their industry.

The association highlighted the paradoxical situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the province is known to produce an excess of natural gas, yet the nanbais’ operations are at the risk of closing down due to inadequate gas supply.

The protest action is the latest development in a series of demonstrations that have gripped the region in recent weeks. Citizens from all walks of life have taken to the streets to vent their frustrations against rising utility bills, particularly the soaring electricity and gas costs that have hit businesses and households alike.
