LAHORE: A German tourist was beaten up by armed men and robbed of his valuables in Lahore, the city known for its hospitality.

Berg Florian, 27, is a resident of Germany and travelled to Pakistan on a bicycle. He was camping on a road near the airport and was sleeping at the time when some armed men came and started beating him up

Narrating his ordeal to the police, Berg said that the dacoits looted an expensive cellphone, cash and a camera worth Rs500,000 from him and fled.

On the other hand, eyewitnesses said that the tourist, who had almost lost consciousness, went to the Rangers’ office on a bicycle and fell down.

They said they rushed Burg to a Rangers’ hospital where he was provided treatment.

The eyewitnesses further said that later they took him to a police station where an FIR was registered on his complaint.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt Owais Shafiq said the law enforcers have started the investigation on the complaint of the victim. They are currently checking the airport and adjacent areas to find the suspects. 

SP Shafiq said the police will find the men with the help of CCTV footages and other evidence. 

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran also took notice of the incident and sought a report from SP Shafiq.
