GHQ attack case: Imran Khan likely to be indicted on October 19

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi on Wednesday fixed the indictment date of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan and others in the General Headquarters (GHQ) attack case for October 19.
Justice Amjad Ali Shah of the ATC conducted hearing in the May 9 related cases.
The trial proceedings resumed with the distribution of challan copies to the accused, including the PTI founder Imran Khan and vice president Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Khan and Qureshi were handed over copies through their lawyers.
PTI leaders Kanwal Shauzab, Sadaqat Abbasi were also given copies of the charge sheet
The distribution of challan copies is expected to be completed in the next hearing, after which the court is likely to frame charges.

Due to the incomplete attendance of the accused, the distribution of the charge sheet will continue at the next session.
The court has adjourned the hearing of the GHQ attack case till October 19. Additionally, 13 other cases linked to the May 9 incidents have been adjourned till November 4.
The GHQ attack was one of the major incidents during the May 9 protests, where protestors allegedly targeted military installations, including the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, leading to widespread arrests and legal proceedings under anti-terrorism laws.
The accused face serious charges, and the court is moving towards concluding the preliminary stages of the trial.
