GHQ Attack Case: Two more witnesses record statements

RAWALPINDI: Two more witnesses have recorded their statements in the GHQ attack case hearing held in Adiala Jail on Saturday.
During the proceedings heard by ATC Rawalpindi Judge Amjad Ali Shah, PTI founder Imran Khan was presented before the court.
The prosecution recorded the testimonies of two more witnesses. Constable Imran, who took photographs of the damages on May 9, submitted 15 pictures as evidence.
Additionally, SDO Building Owais Shah, who assessed the damages, recorded his statement and presented an official damage estimate report.
According to the report, the GHQ attack caused financial losses amounting to Rs. 780,000. However, two witnesses could not record their statements due to incomplete copies of supplementary reports.
IHC judges oppose CJ nomination over judicial independence
The prosecution submitted 13 USB drives containing digital evidence. As per the court’s directive, the digital evidence has been saved on a computer. The court stated that any accused requiring access to digital evidence can apply to obtain it.
Notices were issued to PID, PEMRA, and FIA, while SSP Operations Rawalpindi was also served a notice for failing to submit a complete internal security report.
The court adjourned the hearing till February 6 and ordered that all pending supplementary reports be completed and submitted in the next hearing.
The May 9 protests escalated into violence as supporters set fire to and vandalized state buildings and military sites following the arrest of the PTI founder in a corruption case.
Imran was formally indicted on December 5, 2023. He has been detained in Adiala Jail since August 2023 and was arrested by Rawalpindi police in January 2024 in connection with the May 9 protest case. However, he has filed an application seeking acquittal.
