ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has categorically rejected India’s accusations of targeting the Golden Temple, with the Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali dismissing the claims as “false and unacceptable.”
Shafqat Ali Khan stated: “The Golden Temple is a sacred site for the Sikh community. The very thought of harming it is unthinkable.” He accused India of spreading “false propaganda” to divert attention from the real issues, pointing out that it was India that had targeted places of worship in Pakistan during the night of May 6-7.

Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s role as a protector of Sikh religious sites, noting that thousands of Sikh pilgrims visit the country every year: “Pakistan not only safeguards these holy sites but also facilitates visa-free access for Sikh devotees through the Kartarpur Corridor,” he said.
The spokesperson suggested that India’s accusations were an attempt to shift focus from its own actions. “This is nothing but a misleading propaganda campaign,” Khan said.
The strong rebuttal comes amid heightened tensions between the two neighbours between May 6 and May 10.
