Government to construct 250 ‘mini sports complexes’ nationwide


ISLAMABAD: In a bid to increase focus on sports activities, the government has decided to construct 250 mini sports complexes next year across the country.

The sports complexes will be built with an estimated cost of Rs12 billion, according to an official document. The federal and provincial governments will equally fund the project, contributing 50 per cent each according to Radio Pakistan.

In Punjab, plans are in place to construct a total of 60 mini sports complexes across 36 districts. Meanwhile, 50 complexes will be built across the 34 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Similarly, 40 of these facilities will be constructed in 29 districts of Sindh, while 30 will be built across the 33 districts of Balochistan.

Additionally, the government has also outlined plans to construct 70 mini sports complexes in Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Moreover, sports facilities will also be constructed in the 10 districts of the tribal areas merged in KP
