Govt announces Rs26 per unit relief on electricity consumption in winter

ISLAMABAD: In a major relief to consumers, the federal government on Friday announced a relief of op to Rs26 per unit on consumption of additional electricity during the winter.

According to the Power Division’s announcement, during the relief package for three months (December to February), domestic consumers will receive a flat rate of Rs26.07 per unit for additional electricity consumption, potentially saving between Rs11.42 and Rs26 per unit.

Similarly, for industrial consumers, whose current rates range from Rs31.79 to Rs41.12 per unit, the package offers the same rate for extra use, leading to savings of Rs5.72 to Rs15.05 per unit.

Similarly, commercial consumers, currently paying between Rs39.53 and Rs48.78 per unit, can also benefit from the Rs26.07 rate for extra electricity usage, translating into savings of Rs13.46 to Rs22.71 per unit.

The relief package, applicable to domestic, commercial, and industrial users, aims to encourage increased electricity consumption during the winter months
