Govt announces three-day Eid holidays

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a three-day holiday for Eidul Azha from May 29 to July 1.

According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, all government offices, educational institutions and health establishments, except for emergency services, will remain closed during the three day holidays.

The government announced the Eid holidays a day after the Central Reut-e-Hilal Committee sighted the crescent moon on Monday.

According to the Reut committee, various evidences of moon sighting were received from regional offices, corroborating the crescent with naked eyes.

According to the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Eidul Azha will be held on Thursday June 29.

On the other hand, in Saudi Arabia, Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on June 28.
