LAHORE: In a significant development, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art multi-story tower dedicated to housing government employees in Chauburji Staff Colony.

The ceremony marked a pivotal step towards providing quality accommodation for government officials in the region.

The chief minister disclosed that the tower, spanning five stories, will house residences for government employees ranging from grade 11 to grade 14.

Additionally, plans include the construction of four such multi-story apartment towers in Chauburji Lahore, reinforcing the commitment to address the housing needs of public servants.

During the ceremony, CM Naqvi unveiled comprehensive plans for the development, including a new drainage system and enhanced security measures for Chauburji Staff Colony.

The tower will feature essential facilities such as a tubewell chamber, generator room, special fire-fighting system, and fire alarm installations.

In a bid to ensure uninterrupted water supply, an underground water tank will be constructed. The tower will be equipped with an elevator, and each tower will boast parking spaces for 30 cars and 40 motorcycles.

CM Naqvi said that the quality of the apartments will meet high standards, considering the long-term nature of the housing project.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, CM Mohsin Naqvi stated, “It is the duty of the government to provide accommodation to all entitled employees.”

He expressed confidence that the project would significantly improve living conditions in Chauburji, addressing longstanding concerns, particularly for the seven Somali families residing in the area.

The ceremony was attended by key officials, including Provincial Information Minister Aamir Mir, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Construction and Communications, CCPO Lahore, Commissioner Lahore, Deputy Commissioner, and other relevant dignitaries.

CM Naqvi also unveiled plans for the construction of four office towers in the Central Business District (CBD), where government offices will be relocated.

This strategic move aims to streamline operations and result in substantial cost savings by shifting Punjab government offices from rented buildings to purpose-built CBD towers.

Closing his remarks, CM Mohsin Naqvi acknowledged the transformative changes in the Punjab Civil Secretariat, attributing the improvements to the collective efforts of the team working on various projects.

He expressed gratitude for their hard work, extending a prayer for the team’s continued success in serving the public.

The chief minister concluded by affirming that work on the CBD towers would commence as soon as the design was finalised, further underscoring the government’s commitment to efficient resource utilisation and infrastructure development.
