Green Bus Service launches in Quetta

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Secretary Abdul Aziz Uqaili on Monday inaugurated the new inter-city Green Bus Service in Quetta, complete with a modern air-conditioned system.

He said that the inauguration was “a first step” towards modernising Quetta’s transport system, and will help the locals overcome travel difficulties.

A fleet of eight buses will take various routes, including passing through Airport Road, Zarghoon Road, Sariab Road and Balochistan University.

This project is first of its kind and was approved by former chief minister Jam Kamal Khan.

Its launch was then delayed for a long time because of bureaucratic obstacles and a lack of political commitment, despite the high demand and backing of various stakeholders.

Earlier this month, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo said he was “delighted to launch the long-awaited and much-needed quality public transport system in Quetta.”
