The holy pilgrimage in Makkah draws millions of Muslims from around the globe each year. In 2023 alone, approximately 1.6 million pilgrims performed Hajj.
Thousands of Pakistanis also make the journey each year, with over 179,210 Pakistani pilgrims undertaking the journey the previous year.
For the upcoming Hajj season, the Saudi government made it mandatory for all pilgrims to receive a meningitis vaccine. The requirement is part of a broader set of health protocols aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of attendees.
Pilgrims were advised to complete their vaccinations well in advance of their departure to comply with the new regulations.
