Heatwave continues across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: A severe heatwave continues across Pakistan as temperatures are expected to soar further, with Sibi likely to touch 52 degrees Celsius today, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said.
The Met office has warned that most of the plains of the country will continue to be gripped by extreme heat today. The day temperature in Sindh, southern Punjab and Balochistan will be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than normal.
The temperature in the upper areas is also likely to be 5 to 7 degrees higher than normal.
According to the Meteorological Department, Sibi could be the hottest place in the country today, where the temperature is predicted to reach 52 °C.
Temperatures in Dadu and Dera Ghazi Khan will reach 51°C, Bahawalpur 50 °C, Sukkur 49 °C, Multan and Sargodha 48 °C
In Islamabad, the weather will remain hot and dry with temperatures around 42°C. Lahore will experience 45°C, while Karachi will remain relatively mild at 36°C. Peshawar, Nawabshah, and Dera Ismail Khan are expected to see 48°C. In Faisalabad, the mercury may hit 45°C, while Turbat may record 46°C. In Muzaffarabad, the temperature is likely to rise to 44°C.
Hot and dry weather will also prevail in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
WHERE CAN IT RAIN?
Light rain is likely at some places in Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas in the evening or night.
Rain has also been predicted in Zhob, Musakhel, Barkhan and surrounding areas.
A severe heat wave has been ongoing across the country since last week. Meteorologists have warned that the heat will increase further in the next few days.
The Meteorological Department has advised citizens not to go out unnecessarily, to consume more water, and to protect themselves from the sun.
