Heatwave to ease as rainfall likely from tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rainfall with thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms in parts of upper and central Pakistan, including Rawalpindi and Islamabad, from May 1 to 4.
The current heatwave conditions are expected to ease with the incoming weather system.
According to the Met Office, a westerly wave will enter the upper parts of the country from tonight, while moist winds from the northeast are likely to affect Punjab starting May 1.

Under this system, intermittent thunderstorms, rain, and isolated heavy showers with hail are expected in various areas including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan from April 30 night till May 4.
Dust storms and light rainfall with thunder are also forecast for Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Sukkur, Khairpur, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, and parts of Balochistan from May 2 to 5.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said all relevant departments, including Education, Health, Irrigation, Local Government, and Livestock, are on high alert on directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
