LAHORE: As the heatwave grips the city, multiple areas in Lahore are facing unannounced load shedding, adding to public misery.
According to reports, electricity demand has surged across the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) region due to rising temperatures.
Unscheduled load shedding in Lahore is ongoing in localities such as Iqbal Town, Sadar, Nadirabad, Islampura, and Sant Nagar. Urban areas are witnessing four to six hours of outages daily, while rural areas are facing 6 to 8 hours of load shedding.
LESCO officials say load management is being carried out in high-loss zones. The company operates 2,236 feeders on the 11kV grid, out of which 123 loss-incurring feeders are subject to scheduled power cuts.

CEO LESCO explained that these feeders have been divided into four categories:
- Category 1: 1-hour load shedding
- Category 2: 2 hours
- Category 3: 3 hours
- Category 4: 4 hours
Legal action is also being taken against electricity theft across the LESCO region, the spokesperson added.
