Heavy fines imposed on 287 profiteers in Lahore

LAHORE: The Commissioner of Lahore Division, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, declared on Wednesday that a robust crackdown against profiteers and hoarders remains underway.
In an official statement, Commissioner Randhawa reported that fines amounting to Rs526,000 were levied upon 287 profiteers, with 59 individuals being formally charged within the past 24 hours.
He highlighted that a total of 7,233 inspections were conducted to ensure adherence to official pricing regulations, resulting in the apprehension of 48 profiteers and issuance of warning notices to 285 others.
Additionally, Commissioner Randhawa stressed that stringent action had been taken against those engaged in hoarding and the sale of adulterated goods.
Two establishments were sealed on grounds of hoarding, while 410 individuals were identified for engaging in overcharging practices.
He underscored the ongoing assessment of each price control magistrate’s performance as part of this enforcement effort.
