Heavy Rain in Karachi causes power outages

KARACHI: Heavy rain in Karachi although providing some relief from the heat has also led to power outages in various areas.
Several localities of Karachi including New Karachi, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Liaquatabad, Azizabad, and Orangi Town faced power outages due to the rain.
A K-Electric spokesperson stated that power supply has been suspended in low-lying areas as a precautionary measure due to water accumulation from the rain.
The spokesperson assured that the relevant staff is active and ready to handle any situation. Citizens are advised to maintain a safe distance from electrical appliances.

Meanwhile, rain lashed several areas of Karachi including Malir, Quaidabad, Defence, Clifton, Gizri, Steel Town, Shah Latif Town, Ahsanabad, and adjoining areas bringing respite from the scorching heat and humidity.
The Met Office in a fresh weather report on Saturday said that monsoon currents are entering Sindh and predicted medium rainfall with thunderstorms in Karachi today.
“The weather will remain hot and humid, while heavy rainfall is expected in some areas of the city. The maximum temperature in the city could soar to as high as 40 Celsius today”, the Met Office predicted.
Light rainfall is also expected in Karachi on Sunday and Monday, according to the Met Office.
