Heavy rain with lightning lashes Islamabad

Islamabad heavy rain

ISLAMABAD: The twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad witnessed heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, relieving the citizens of the scorching heat.

However, the heavy downpours also caused disruptions in daily life, accumulating rainwater in low-lying areas and affecting the traffic system. A great rush of traffic was witnessed on the Islamabad expressway, one of the main gateways to enter Islamabad from Rawalpindi.

The heavy rain, which started early in the morning in Islamabad, brought a significant drop in temperature, decreasing by 10 points, from 32 degrees Centigrade to 26 degrees Centigrade.

The citizens, who were facing severe heat and humidity, welcomed the rain with joy.

Heavy falls are likely at isolated places in Northeast Punjab, Potohar Region, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir.
