Heavy rains leave six dead, several others injured


PESHAWAR: At least six people were killed and dozen others injured in rain-related incidents in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Heavy ranins coupled with strong winds lashed different regions of the province, claiming at least three lives in district Bannu, one in Lakki Marwat and two in Peshawar. The rain-related incidents left at least 20 people injured in Bannu.

A child was also reported dead and several others injured in rain-related incidents in Lakki Marwat.

In Peshawar, at least two people were killed and five others injured after were hit by collapsing walls.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the weather is expected to remain hot and dry in most parts of the country. However, “dust/thunderstorm-rain is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast and south Punjab, northeast Balochistan and Kashmir”, the Met Office said.
