JHANG: A high-level flood in the River Chenab has severed ground links to several areas of Jhang, leaving large parts of the district inundated.
According to the deputy commissioner, more than 260 villages have been submerged, forcing over 322,000 people to move to safer locations.
The flood has damaged nearly 190,000 acres of land, while standing crops on 227,000 acres have been destroyed.
Authorities have set up 24 flood relief camps across the district, where rescue and relief operations are continuing to assist the displaced families.
The deputy commissioner has urged residents of vulnerable areas to evacuate immediately and move to safer places as water levels remain dangerously high.
INDIA RELEASES MORE WATER
India has informed Pakistan about the release of water into the River Sutlej, raising concerns over potential flooding downstream.
According to the Ministry of Water Resources, the Indian High Commission has officially notified Pakistan about the situation.

MORE RELIEF CAMPS SET UP
Senior Punjab Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said rescue teams are evacuating people stranded in flood-hit areas as the province battles an unprecedented crisis.
She said the Punjab government has set up relief camps with food, medical care, and fodder for livestock. Over 800,000 animals have already been shifted to safe locations.
Aurangzeb revealed that 1.3 million people have been moved to safer areas, though many residents initially refused to leave their homes and livestock behind.
“Some children had no shoes when rescued,” she said, stressing the scale of the humanitarian crisis.
