Hold my pliers: Thief steals Islamabad Safe City camera from outside police station

ISLAMABAD: In an audacious heist, a camera of Islamabad police’s Safe City project, valued at Rs120,000 was stolen from outside Margalla police station in Islamabad sources told HUM News earlier today. Apparently, the theft went unnoticed for two weeks, leaving local authorities scrambling to recover the equipment.

The incident, that caught the police completely off guard, took place on September 2, but it wasn’t until 15 days later that a team from the Safe City Authority in Islamabad arrived at the scene.

The case of the theft was formally registered at Margalla police station on September 16, and an investigation is in progress.

It is concerning to see a security lapse that allowed such an act to go undetected for an extended period.
