Honour killing in Karachi: Father murders daughter, boy

KARACHI: In an alleged case of honour killing, a boy and a girl were shot dead inside a house in Karachi’s Malir Rifah Aam Society.
The police, after initial investigations, have arrested the girl’s father in this connection.
According to SHO Al-Falah Mohammad Ali Marwat, the incident happened at the upper portion of the house in the society where the bodies of a boy and a girl were found.
The girl has been identified as 18-year-old Fatima, daughter of Azhar. However, the boy’s identity, who is believed to be around 20, could not be ascertained until the filing of the report.

According to initial investigations, the boy had come to meet the girl and upon seeing the couple together, the girl’s father became infuriated and shot them dead.
SHO further told that the girl’s father Azhar has been arrested, and they have also recovered the murder weapon from him. Karachi Police believe that it was an act of honour killing.
The police crime scene unit also arrived at the crime scene and recovered the bullet shells and other evidence. The police believe the girl and the boy were shot in the head.
“We have started investigations and are interrogating several people. Soon, we will uncover the real situation,” the SHO said.
The alleged perpetrator, Azhar, has two children, while the deceased girl had recently discontinued her studies.
“We are examining the case from multiple angles to uncover the truth,” the SHO added.
