ISLAMABAD: Stressing upon the need for judicial integrity, Islamabad High Court (IHC) Judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani while addressing a local event on Tuesday, said the judiciary requires independent judges who would uphold the sanctity of the system.
“Today, the people’s hope lies with the judiciary, parliament, and media,” he added.
Lauding the efforts of IHC Bar Council and Association, Justice Kayani said that their work was commendable, emphasising the importance of the rule of law: “Only through the correct interpretation of the law can Pakistan achieve progress.”
Sharing hope with the audience, Justice Kayani said that one should not feel dejected by the ongoing developments in the judiciary even if it is the 26th Constitutional Amendment: “Pakistan’s history is not alien to such events. The 26th Amendment was based on one letter which has reshaped history but I do feel that a full bench of the Supreme Court will hear the matter.”
He added that the issue is essential because the survival of the country’s public depends on it.
Justice Kayani also threw light on the construction of district bar lawyers’ complex Stating that he will urge the Chief Justice to formally take up the matter.
