KARACHI: Naveed Asghar, the brother of the late actress Humaira Asghar, travelled to Karachi to retrieve his sister’s remains after her tragic passing.
The actress was discovered deceased in her apartment in DHA Phase VI during a court-ordered eviction due to several months of unpaid rent. The state of her body, which has significantly decomposed, prompted inquiries into the circumstances surrounding her death.

In conversation with the law enforcement, Humaira Asghar’s brother conveyed the emotional strain the situation has placed on his family. The siblings’ elderly parents, reportedly in their 80s, were unable to make the journey to Karachi due to health concerns and the profound grief of losing their daughter.
After offering them support, Naveed Asghar undertook the task of completing the necessary legal formalities to transport Humaira’s body back to Lahore for burial.
Born in October 10, 1992, Humaira Asghar was a talented actress, model and theatre performer. She began her artistic career with Rafi Peer Theatre during her college years, where she honed her skills in performance and storytelling.
Her entry into the fashion industry saw her modelling for several prominent brands, quickly establishing herself.
Her small screen career included roles in “Benaam”, “Just Married”, “Chal Dil Mere”, “Sirat-e-Mustaqam”, “Guru”, and “Ehsaan Faramosh”. She gained widespread recognition through her participation in the reality show “Tamasha”, where her vibrant personality resonated with audiences.
Humaira Asghar also appeared in movies, including a role in the 2015 action-thriller “Jalaibee” and a leading part in “Aik The Badshah”.
Humaira Asghar was also an accomplished visual artist, having studied painting and sculpture at the National College of Arts and the College of Art and Design at the University of the Punjab.
The circumstances surrounding her death horrified the nation. On July 8, authorities were alerted to a foul odour emanating from her apartment. This prompted the authorities to forcibly enter the locked space. Inside, they discovered her body, in advanced state of decomposition.
Investigators noted that all doors and windows were secured from the inside, with no signs of forced entry or struggle. However, reports indicated that the balcony door was left ajar, raising further questions.
A post-mortem examination conducted at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) confirmed that the body was in an “advanced state of decomposition”. Initial assessment suggested that Humaira Asghar had passed away approximately two to three weeks prior to the discovery of her remains.
However, further investigations and forensic analysis indicated that she may have actually died around October 2024, nearly nine months before her body was found.
The conclusion was drawn from various pieces of ‘digital evidence’, including social media activity, and the condition of expired food items within her apartment.
Such findings have led investigators to piece together a timeline that raises more questions than answers regarding her final days.
