IESCO cancels scheduled maintenance as heatwave intensifies

IESCO power supply

ISLAMABAD: Despite facing an intense heatwave, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has managed to maintain a smooth and uninterrupted power supply across 1,344 feeders, according to a company spokesperson.

The severe heatwave has, however, led to an increase in incidents of transformers tripping and individual complaints. The spokesperson highlighted this issue on Saturday, explaining that the extreme temperatures have put additional strain on the electrical infrastructure.

In response to the escalating demand and the challenges posed by the heatwave, IESCO has suspended all approved development and scheduled maintenance programmes. Despite these measures, some areas, including Rasool Town and The Spring Apartment Homes, have experienced prolonged power outages.

To mitigate these issues, IESCO has ensured that complaint staff are on high alert, ready to promptly address any faults. The company has also equipped field offices with additional meters, transformers, cables, and other necessary equipment to swiftly handle consumer complaints.

Consumers experiencing power-related issues are encouraged to lodge their complaints via the IESCO helpline at 118 or send an SMS to 8118 for prompt assistance.

This proactive approach aims to ensure that, despite the extreme weather conditions, the impact on residents remains minimal and service disruptions are addressed swiftly.
