ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted bail to Fawad Chaudhary in a corruption reference case filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri presided over the hearing of the bail application.
The former federal minister had been embroiled in legal proceedings related to allegations of misappropriation in construction projects, including the Lillah-Jhelum road project in Jhelum.

The NAB prosecutor argued that Chaudhary had engaged in illicit practices to award contracts to specific contractors, raising concerns about transparency and legality.
In response to these accusations, Fawad Chaudhary defended himself, asserting that the project’s total cost amounted to Rs 16 billion when it was started, with Rs 8 billion already expended. He alleged that the project had been arbitrarily halted without justification, resulting in cost escalation to Rs 24 billion now.
