ISLAMABAD: In a case related to the recovery and court appearance of poet Ahmed Farhad, the Islamabad High Court (IHC), presided over by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, issued a written order from the previous hearing.

Farhad’s lawyer stated that the poet has not yet returned home and remains on physical remand in connection with a case registered at the Muzaffarabad police station. The lawyer further noted that Farhad’s family has met with him and that his health is reportedly poor due to medical reasons.

The Attorney General argued that Farhad’s remand renders the application for Farhad’s recovery ineffective. The court’s order called for an assessment of Farhad’s abductors and action against them, but the law officer contended that this request was no longer relevant following Farhad’s recovery.

However, the IHC disagreed with the law officer’s position, insisting that the request remains pertinent until Farhad appears in court.

The lawyer mentioned that a bail application for Farhad was filed post-arrest and suggested that he might be released on bail within a few days. Taking into account the various motives and circumstances surrounding the case, the IHC has adjourned the hearing of the case until June 7.

In related news, the IHC has also reportedly prepared a live streaming link for the hearings of ‘missing persons’ cases. IHC’s IT department has completed the necessary arrangements for live streaming.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani had instructed that these cases be streamed live, following a precedent set by the Supreme Court, which also broadcasted the hearing of some cases, including the presidential reference of former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Bhutto.
