Imaan Mazari granted bail, Ali Wazir sent to jail

ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad district and sessions court on Tuesday granted bail to human rights activist Imaan Mazari and sent Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement leader and former MNA Ali Wazir to jail on a 14-day judicial remand in a case of allegedly causing damage to public property and interference in state affairs.
Judicial magistrate Waqas Ahmed pronounced the verdict reserved earlier.
According to the verdict, Imaan Mazari has been granted bail against a surety bond of Rs30,000. However, the court ruled differently for Ali Wazir, remanding him to judicial custody for 14 days in Adiala jail.

Islamabad’s Tarnol police had booked Imaan Mazari and Ali Wazir on allegations of interference in state affairs and their purported role in causing damage to public property.
Shireen Mazari alleged that plainclothes policewomen had forcibly entered their residence during the early hours of Sunday night to detain her daughter. Along with Imaan, the authorities also seized security cameras, her laptop, and cellphone.
