IMF delegation arrives in Pakistan for economic review

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is on a visit to Pakistan for an economic review, and is scheduled to meet with Ministry of Finance officials today, the ministry officials said early on Monday.

The economic review talks with the IMF will continue until March 15. In the first phase, technical and policy-level talks will be held and in the second phase, policy-level talks will be held.

The IMF delegation will also give suggestions for the budget for the next fiscal year 2025-26, sources familiar with the delegation’s agenda said. In addition to Finance Ministry, the IMF representatives will also hold meetings with officials of the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Planning and Development, and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

Talks will also be held with other institutions including the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), and National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) among others.

Separate talks will be held with the provincial governments of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan, sources said.
