Finance Minister hopeful as Pakistan aligns with IMF conditions

KARACHI: Caretaker Minister for Finance, Shamshad Akhtar, affirmed that Pakistan is making substantial progress in achieving its International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme goals. 

Speaking to the media in Karachi, she highlighted the country’s rapidly improving economic situation, attributing it to prudent economic policies. 

Akhtar highlighted that the Ministry of Finance has undertaken significant measures to align with IMF conditions. 

She stated that once the IMF approves the loans, other multilateral institutions will also disburse funds. 

The finance minister reiterated that the caretaker government is implementing rigorous measures to rejuvenate the economy.

Furthermore, she outlined initiatives aimed at enhancing the industrial sector and emphasised the government’s actions against smugglers. 

Akhtar underscored the administration’s commitment to revitalising the economy through targeted and comprehensive efforts.
