ISLAMABAD: Former chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has formally challenged the proceedings of the cipher case and raised objections to the appointment of lawyers for the defendants by the government.

The legal move was initiated by lawyer Hamid Khan, through a petition filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), where Imran Khan contends that the court’s order on January 26 in the cipher case, along with subsequent actions following the appointment of government lawyers, should be declared null and void.

In a statement, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar expressed the party’s commitment to seeking an early hearing on the matter. The move to challenge the proceedings comes amid a series of legal developments, and Imran Khan’s legal team aims to present its arguments before the IHC.

Imran Khan’s petition raises questions about the legitimacy of the court’s actions in the cipher case and underscores the need for a thorough examination of the appointment process of lawyers by the government.

As the legal battle unfolds, it remains to be seen how the Islamabad High Court will respond to Imran Khan’s challenge and whether it will impact the ongoing proceedings in the Cipher case.
