Imran Khan not allowed to make international calls, court told

ISLAMABAD: Adiala Jail superintendent has informed the Islamabad High Court that PTI founder Imran Khan cannot be allowed to make international calls, as per jail rules and government instructions.
He was responding to inquiries by the Chief Justice Amir Farooq in the case related to Imran’s requests for various facilities while in prison, including access to a personal physician, meetings with his wife, and phone calls with his children.
Replying to the queries, the jail superintendent told the court that Imran Khan is being provided with B-class facilities, which include TV, newspapers, and a kitchen.
He further told the court that prisoners are allowed two meetings a week, but sometimes three to four meetings are also arranged. He further said that prior to sentencing, Bushra Bibi was allowed to meet Imran Khan and now after sentencing, she will also be allowed to meet her husband.

Regarding allowing Imran Khan to talk to his sons, the jail superintendent said that it is not possible as it is not permitted under jail rules and government instructions, as other inmates could request similar facilities.
He further told the court that Imran Khan is being provided with the best medical care in jail. The doctors examine him every day. He is allowed to read six newspapers; however, two are provided to him, and he can view 16 news channels.

The court disposing of the case instructed that the prisoner be provided facilities as per jail rules and his rights should be protected.
