ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned the Adiala Jail superintendent tomorrow (Tuesday) in the case related to allowing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan to speak with his sons over the phone.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case related to Imran’s requests for various facilities while in prison, including access to a personal physician, meetings with his wife, and phone calls with his children.
“We had enquired about the rules regarding phone calls and meetings,” said Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.
The jail authorities informed the court that the PTI founder spoke to his sons on January 13.
“One shouldn’t need to apply every time for a phone call,” remarked Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.
“WhatsApp calls are not part of the rules, but the conversation was allowed on court orders,” said jail officials.

Jail authorities stated that Bushra Bibi had been allowed two meetings after sentencing.
“Meetings are not allowed during the hearing; that’s why we had asked for a report,” said the Chief Justice.
“If such a response was to be given, I might as well summon the Superintendent,” remarked Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.
The court summoned the superintendent of Adiala Jail in person with a response.
“Come prepared after reading the court order dated January 23,” instructed Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.
The Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing until tomorrow.
