Imran Khan’s posters removed from Lal Haveli after ticket snub

Section 144

RAWALPINDI: In response to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) decision to field candidates against Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed rather than offering him a party ticket, posters featuring PTI’s leader disappeared from Lal Haveli.

Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, the former interior minister, was not granted a PTI ticket for the upcoming 2024 general elections on February 8. Consequently, images of Imran Khan were taken down from Lal Haveli – Sheikh Rasheed’s political base and residence.

SC verdict: PTI loses its bat symbol

PTI has put forward two candidates, one male and one female, to contest against Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed in Rawalpindi’s NA-56 and NA-57 constituencies. Sources reveal that after PTI announced the candidacy against Sheikh Rashid, PTI flags and pictures of Imran Khan were removed from Lal Haveli.

Reports indicate that several pictures of Imran Khan, both solo and with Sheikh Rashid, previously displayed on stairs and in meeting rooms outside Sheikh Rashid’s residence, were removed on Saturday. These pictures, which had been part of Lal Haveli for eight years, were taken down following the recent political developments.
