Imran Khan’s sisters physical remand extended by two days

ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Tuesday has extended the physical remand of PTI founder Imran Khan’s sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan for two more days.

The court was hearing the case registered under terrorism charges at Kohsar Police Station.

The police presented the two women in court after the completion of their one-day remand and requested an additional 10-day remand.

The police accused Aleema and Uzma of inciting party workers, leading to an attack on law enforcement officers in which around 30 policemen were injured.

The prosecutor argued that the events were part of a larger conspiracy and that further investigation was necessary.

He mentioned that a megaphone used by the suspects had been recovered but that additional evidence was still being pursued.

PTI lawyers, however, called for the discharge of both women, claiming the case was not about recovery but unlawful detention.

They argued that both women had been recovered from the police station by a court bailiff, emphasizing that the arrest was solely due to their familial connection to Imran Khan.

Judge Abu Al-Hasanat Muhammad Zulkarnain ruled in favor of extending remand of Imran Khan’s sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan by two days.

The Islamabad police arrested several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists including party founder Imran Khan’s sisters attempting to reach D-Chowk for a planned protest.

Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, the sisters of Imran Khan, were detained by the police when they arrived at D-Chowk to join the party workers in the planned demonstration.

Imran Khan’s two sisters were moved to the secretariat police station.
