Inclusive Youth Parliament session for special children concludes

KARACHI: The Inclusive Youth Parliament, organized by the Ida Rieu Welfare Organization for special children, concludes today as the participants finalize their resolutions and prepare their reports.

 Ida Rieu Welfare Organization, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of individuals with disabilities, has recently organized a groundbreaking event, the Inclusive Youth Parliament.

The parliament brought together blind, deaf, physically challenged, and mainstream children to learn about democratic processes and participate in simulated elections and legislative activities.

The organization is set to hold a grand conclusion ceremony tomorrow, where these remarkable children will be awarded certificates and shields of recognition for their exceptional efforts and participation in the Inclusive Youth Parliament.

The objective of the Inclusive Youth Parliament was to provide a platform for these exceptional young individuals to enhance their understanding of democracy, legislation, law, justice, and economics. Over the course of the event, the participants had the unique opportunity to learn from esteemed individuals in their respective fields.

The session commenced with the democratic process of electing key positions within the Youth Parliament. Through a transparent voting procedure, students enthusiastically participated and elected Saad Rehman (of NED University) as Deputy Speaker, Abid Ali (of Denning Law School) as Leader of the house and Muhammad Huzaifa (of NED University) as Leader of the Opposition.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and a sense of responsibility as all elected representatives and members of IRWA Youth Parliament took an oath to fulfil their duties diligently.

Former Federal Minister Honourable Shazia Marri delivered an enlightening session on the intricacies of legislative procedures and workings, sharing her valuable insights and experiences.

Pakistan’s first visually impaired judge, Justice Yousuf Saleem shed light on the pressing issue of accessibility within Pakistan’s Justice System, offering valuable insights and perspectives. Additionally Dr. Kaiser Bengali, a distinguished economist with over 35 years of experience engaged with young parliamentarians with aim to equip them with a comprehensive understanding of the basics of the economy and shed light on strategies for the structural revival of Pakistan’s economic landscape.

As part of the event, the students were taken on an immersive journey to the Provincial Assembly,where they had the unique opportunity to experience firsthand the inner workings of a legislative body. They were even facilitated to hold their own party sessions, providing them with a taste of real government activities.

The Inclusive Youth Parliament organized by Ida Rieu Welfare Organization serves as a beacon of inclusivity and empowerment, breaking down barriers and providing a platform for differently-abled children to showcase their capabilities. The event not only fosters understanding but also inspires these young individuals to become active participants in shaping the future of our nation.
