India ‘cooking up stories’ about Pakistan attacks on military targets, says Pakistan military

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Pakistan Military Spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that India is “cooking up stories” after it alleged Pakistan had launched drone and missile attacks on military stations across Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir.

They made these comments on Thursday while addressing a news conference.

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Ahmed Sharif said, “We intercepted 75 to 80 Indian fighter jets, shot down five of them, and brought down two UAVs. This is a live example of what happened just 36 hours ago.”

He said, “India has created a hype since yesterday about Pakistan attacking 15 locations … It is such a fantastic and cooked-up story. You can just laugh about it. I’ll ask a few questions on this. The first question is, is the Indian government and their armed forces, are they living in the 18th century or 21st century? Because in 21st century, every projectile leaves a digital trace and signature.”

He added, “There were 25 Indian drones, and then another four, making it 29, which we neutralised. Only one managed to partially engage its target, causing some equipment damage and injuring four of our soldiers.”

A Reuters witness reported seeing red flashes and projectiles above Jammu for about 2-1/2 hours on Thursday evening.

India said it hit nine “terrorist infrastructure” sites in Pakistan on Wednesday (May 7) in retaliation for what it says was a deadly Islamabad-backed attack in Indian Kashmir on April 22. Two days of fighting have killed dozens of people.

Pakistan says it was not involved in the April 22 attack and denied that any of the sites hit by India were militant bases. It said it shot down five Indian aircraft on Wednesday, a report the Indian embassy in Beijing dismissed as “misinformation”.
