India is sponsoring terrorism in the region, DG ISPR tells RT Arabia

WEB DESK: Pakistan Army Spokesperson, Director General of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif has said that India is sponsoring terrorism in this region. DG ISPR made these remarks in an exclusive interview with RT Arabia, saying that it is necessary to go into the background of the issue to understand the Indo-Pak tension.

“India is hiding behind a false narrative to hide the truth,” he said, adding that the Indian media started blaming Pakistan a few minutes after the Pahalgam incident. “The Indian foreign ministry spokesperson admitted two days later that the investigation is still ongoing,” DG ISPR said.

There is no sense in making allegations without investigation and evidence, he said, adding that the evidence of the Pahalgam incident should be given to an impartial organisation. “We are ready to cooperate. [But] India took unilateral action and fired missiles at our mosques. Children, women and the elderly were martyred in the Indian attack,” he added.

“India is the main sponsor of terrorism in Pakistan, whether they are Khawarij or terrorist groups active in Balochistan,” Ahmed Sharif said.

The spokesperson added that it is the sacred responsibility of Pakistan’s forces to protect the country’s sovereignty and borders. “We fulfilled this responsibility and will continue to do so at all costs. Pakistan gave a prompt, strong and effective response to the aggression, which made the enemy face the truth,” he added.

DG ISPR told RT Arabia that India attacked on the night of May 6 and 7. In response, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) shot down five Indian aircraft. “The nation and the Pakistani forces stood like an iron wall against India. The enemy fired more missiles on the night of May 9 and 10 to scare us. They forgot that the nation of Pakistan and its forces never bow down, nor can they be made to bow down,” he said.

“On May 10, Pakistan very responsibly and carefully targeted only Indian military targets,” DG ISPR said, “Not a single civilian target was damaged. This was an appropriate, fair and balanced response.”

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif also reiterated that it was the spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of Defense himself who came and requested a ceasefire. “We want peace and stability, so we said why not. Pakistan has also done great work on the diplomatic front and engaged the international community. We are not a violent nation, but we are a serious nation. Pakistan’s first priority is peace,” he said.
