Inquiry ordered into alleged rape of 20-year-old by jail superintendent

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has ordered an inquiry into the alleged rape of a 20-year-old girl by the superintendent of the district sub-jail in Battagaram.
A notification from the Department of Home and Tribal Affairs said that a fact-finding inquiry, led by DIG Prisons Hazara Umeer Khan and the Superintendent of Mansehra sub-jail, has been tasked with investigating the case against former superintendent Shehryar, with a report to be submitted within two days.

Sources told HUM News that the inquiry committee has begun its investigation, and recorded statements from multiple individuals on the first day.
Meanwhile, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has taken immediate action, ordering the suspension and removal of Shehryar.
The chief minister stressed that those found guilty will face strict punishment and assured that justice will be served to the victim.
According to sources, the victim had filed an FIR against the former jail superintendent at the local police station. The alleged rape took place on October 2.
