Interior minister hints at launching operation in Kacha area

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the headquarters of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) on Wednesday and hinted at launching an operation against bandits in the Kacha area of Sindh and Punjab.
Naqvi received a comprehensive briefing from NACTA’s head, Inspector General Tahir Rai.
The interior minister emphasized the imperative of establishing the National Counter Terrorism Division (NCTD) for the complete eradication of terrorism.
The minister underscored the necessity of permanently suppressing facilitators once terrorism was eradicated and highlighted the need for a comprehensive strategy against terrorism and extremism.
Naqvi emphasized the full implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP), stressing the importance of translating it into tangible actions.
He declared that no terrorist organization would be spared, signaling a forthcoming major operation against the bandits in the Kacha area of Sindh.
Endorsing NACTA’s policies against terrorist and extremist groups, the interior minister reiterated the commitment to promote the Pakistani national narrative against the extremist ideologies of terrorists.

The NACTA, tasked with coordinating national counter-terrorism efforts, plays a crucial role in advising the government on counter-terrorism policies and strategies.
It serves as a hub for intelligence sharing and analysis, facilitating coordination among various law enforcement and intelligence agencies to combat terrorism effectively.
Furthermore, Naqvi pledged to enhance and modernize NACTA’s capacity to better counter emerging terrorist threats.
This includes bolstering efforts to counter extremist narratives and propaganda while strengthening the organisation’s operational capabilities.
The visit underscores the government’s renewed determination to tackle terrorism comprehensively and highlights NACTA’s pivotal role in shaping and implementing counter-terrorism strategies in Pakistan.
