ISLAMABAD: If you thought the recent rain spree in Islamabad and Rawalpindi was just a passing thing, think again!
Since last night, intermittent rain has been sprinkling cross the twin cities with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) giving residents more reason to keep the umbrellas handy.
The humid air combined with the frequent monsoon rains made the atmosphere in Islamabad and Rawalpindi feel like a warm, soggy hug!

The humidity in Islamabad is now a whopping 96 per cent, and with temperatures hovering around 35 degrees Celsius, it is the kind of sticky weather that makes you long for a cool breeze or a strong air conditioner.
For those stepping out, the moist air will love to frizz the heck out of your hair, but hey!, it’s also a refreshing break from the dry heat most Islamadites are used to.
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) of Rawalpindi has been on high alert since Monday evening, mobilising machinery and staff to tackle drainage issues in low-lying areas.
They are closely monitoring water levels in local water stream (Nulla Lai) prone to overflow during heavy rains.
While the rainfall is welcomed by many, urban flooding remains a concern for residents in vulnerable neighbourhoods.

Looking ahead, the weather forecast for Tuesday suggests parly cloudy and humid conditions with an 80 per cent chance of rain and thundershowers.
For now, the dampness and clouds have created a somewhat cosy vibe in the cities. Street food vendors should be out and about in no time, selling pakoray to be relished with a sweet, sweet cup of chai!
