mobile internet suspension

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to suspend mobile internet services in five districts, including Quetta, from tomorrow (September 5 to 6) in view of the security situation during Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

According to the provincial home department, a formal request has been sent to the federal interior ministry, recommending that 3G and 4G services be suspended from 5pm on September 5 until 9pm on September 6.

The letter stated that the measure was proposed due to security concerns.

It added that mobile internet services in several other districts of the province are already suspended on security grounds.

The Balochistan High Court had recently ordered restoration of mobile internet in these five districts.

Public holiday

Earlier in the day, the provincial government declared a two-day public holiday to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

According to an official notification, all government and semi-government offices across the province will remain closed on September 5 and 6 (Friday and Saturday).

However, officials assigned to emergency and essential services will continue performing their duties.

The Sindh government had also declared September 5 and 6 as public holidays on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

However, the federal government had announced just one nationwide public holiday on September 6 for Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

The Cabinet Division issued the notification with the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, known as Eid Milad-un-Nabi, is observed across Pakistan with deep religious devotion and enthusiasm.

The day is marked by processions, gatherings, and educational seminars highlighting the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Mahafil-e-Milad are organized in both small towns and major cities to commemorate Seerat-un-Nabi and to promote the teachings of the Last Prophet (PBUH).

Milad processions are also taken out in major cities, where Ulema deliver sermons on various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), emphasizing adherence to his teachings and Sunnah.
