LAHORE: The newly launched Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) has asked its two members to resign from the federal cabinet to run the affairs of the nascent party.
In Tweet, IPP’s central spokesperson Firdous Ashiq Awan, she said that as per the instruction of party president Aleem Khan, federal cabinet members Aun Chaudhry and Nauman Langrial will immediately resign from their positions.
Aun Chaudhry and Nauman Langrial were appointed as special assistants to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif prior to the emergence of the IPP.
Awan also said that the IPP will participate in the elections as an independent entity.
“The organisational structure of the party will be formed soon to solve the problems of the people, for the national interest to reach all levels of society”, the spokesperson said.
The IPP was formed earlier this month by Jahangir Tareen and several other former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders. The May 9 riots eventually led to a rift with members leaving the party to form the IPP. This new party is yet to be registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan.
