Iranian president lands in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi arrived here on Monday morning on a three-day official visit to Pakistan.

He was accorded a warm welcome upon his arrival in Islamabad at Noor Khan Airbase.

The Iranian president is accompanied by his wife and a high level delegation.

During the visit, President Raisi will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir.

He will also visit Lahore and Karachi and meet with the provincial leadership.

This is the first visit of any foreign leader to Pakistan after the February 8 polls, which will also be watched closely by the United States amid the Iran-Israel tension.
