Is the woman involved in hit and run of policeman wife of senior journalist?

ISLAMABAD: Social media is abuzz with claims that the woman who hit a policeman in Islamabad after an altercation, earlier this year, and then ran with her car is the wife of a senior journalist.

 A video of a woman running over a policeman in the garrison city of Rawalpindi earlier this year has hit the social media with a storm.

It was in January when the incident took place on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway in the limits of Naseerabad police station, Rawalpindi, the motorways police confirmed it to media, adding that a case is already registered against the woman. 

The viral shows the woman sitting inside a white car and shouting at the traffic cop for stopping her at an entry point of the motorways

The woman, whose identity is yet to be determined, can be hurling abuses at the police official, who is responding him calmly. 

At one point, the woman asks another traffic official, who was standing in front of her vehicle, to get aside. After he refuses, the angry lady drove the car into him, tossing him into the air and fleeing the scene.

The woman seen in the video remains free after the incident that took place in January but the video clips surfaced only this week

The video has sparked social media debate and many users have been claiming that the woman is the wife of anchorperson Amir Mateen.

Senior journalist and anchorperson Hamid Mir has refuted social media claims that the woman who hit a policeman in Islamabad after an altercation and then ran with her car is the wife of a senior journalist.

Mir did not mention Mateen but said that the journalist in question had “no wife.”

“Whatever this woman did was wrong, an FIR was also registered against the woman, action should have been taken against her, but how did the controversy start? Some touts of the intelligence agencies are declaring this woman to be the wife of a senior journalist. The intelligence agencies do not know that the said journalist does not even have a wife,” Hamid Mir wrote on social media platform using his handle @HamidMirPAK.
