Ishaq Dar to visit Hong Kong from May 29-30

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar will visit Hong Kong from May 29-30 to participate in the signing ceremony for a convention on the establishment of the International Organization for Mediation.

The deputy PM Dar will sign the IOMed convention and address the ceremony on May 30.

He will also hold several bilateral engagements on the sidelines of the meeting, according to PTV.

It may be noted that Pakistan believes that peace and security, as well as global prosperity, can be promoted and preserved through strict adherence to the principles of the UN Charter, faithful implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, and international law.

Mediation, diplomacy, dialogue, and international cooperation constitute important cornerstones of this comprehensive approach.

Pakistan has joined IOMed as one of its founding members and remains strongly supportive of its aims and objectives, recognizing its potential for mediation as well as the peaceful and pacific settlement of international disputes.

Likewise, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif who is on trip to various countries and meanwhile staying in Azerbaijan thanked on Wednesday both Turkiye and Azerbaijan for their support in the recent war with India.

PM Shehbaz said during his thanksgiving address that Islamabad would ensure at all costs that “New Delhi does not stop water flow to Pakistan”.

The PM’s stress on the waters matter was a reference to the Prime Minister Modi’s decision to put the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) in abeyance.

Addressing the second Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit, the prime minister also congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for resolving the Kurd separatism issue.

He was referring to the Kurdish rebels’ decision to disband PKK.

Shehbaz said it showed Erdogan’s diplomatic skills, which had enabled the Turkish president to earn a high place and influence not only in the region, but also beyond.

The prime minister also congratulated Azerbaijan on the Republic Day. “The way Azeri nation fought for its liberation, you earned a high position in the community of nations.”
