ISLAMABAD: Good news for citizens who enjoy hiking in the Margalla Hills as all hiking trails have been reopened after the recent spell of heavy monsoon rains came to an end.
The Islamabad administration had closed the trails from September 1st for indefinite period due to torrential rains that had lashed the federal capital.
However now according to the Islamabad district administration, all trails are now accessible for the public.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad said the trails had been temporarily closed due to continuous rainfall in the city, a precautionary step taken to ensure public safety.
The reopening follows confirmation from the Pakistan Meteorological Department that no further rains are expected in the coming days. With clearer weather ahead, authorities have restored access to all trails, allowing citizens to resume outdoor activities.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad advised hikers to remain cautious, keep track of weather updates, and follow safety protocols while using the trails.
Local residents welcomed the move, highlighting that the trails offer not only recreation but also a healthy activity for families and individuals.
The district administration added it will continue to monitor weather patterns and, if necessary, take precautionary measures again to safeguard visitors.
