Islamabad police officer, son martyred in brave pursuit

ISLAMABAD: In a harrowing incident that unfolded in the Ramna police station area, Islamabad, Head Constable Mohammad Ashraf exemplified extraordinary courage as he confronted armed bandits attempting a robbery. Tragically, his valorous act resulted in the martyrdom of Ashraf and his son.

As captured in CCTV footage obtained by Hum News, the incident depicts the brave police officer, Ashraf, responding to the armed accused during their attempted robbery. Swiftly responding to the threat, Ashraf courageously gave chase, donned in a plain vest, as he attempted to apprehend the criminals.

In the video, the armed accused, realizing the officer was in pursuit, attempted to escape. Ashraf successfully apprehended one of the armed assailants, displaying remarkable bravery in the face of danger. However, the confrontation took a tragic turn when another accused pulled out a pistol during the scuffle.

The assailant shot Ashraf in the chest, and in a shocking escalation, the armed individuals also fired upon Ashraf’s son. The duo succumbed to their injuries, marking a devastating loss for the Islamabad Capital Police.

Senior police officers, accompanied by heavy personnel, swiftly responded to the scene, initiating a search operation to apprehend the accused responsible for this heinous act. ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan took immediate notice of the incident, issuing orders for the swift arrest of the perpetrators.
