ISLAMABAD: The capital city authorities have sealed the Red Zone with containers and barbed wires, and a ban has also been imposed on illegal gatherings in Islamabad. Containers have also been placed across sensitive areas, to allow for quick blocking of the roads, if needed.
Tarar urges not to politicise canal dispute
The security measures come as a result of Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) announcement of a ‘Gaza March’ – pro-Palestine rally, today. Islamabad authorities have blocked key areas with barbed wires and other types of barriers. Additional security personnel have also been deployed across the city to deal with any untoward situation.
Police have issued a stern warning, stating that any attempt to take the law into one’s own hands will be met with strict and immediate action.
Islamabad administration has also strictly banned any sort of political gathering in the federal capital, especially in the vicinity of government buildings.
This higher need for security and barriers stem from the timing of the rally, as the teams and international players participating in Pakistan Super League (PSL) are currently in Pakistan, some still in the federal capital. Moreover, there are multiple foreign delegates visiting Islamabad in the recent past, and scheduled for visits in the near future as well.
